Migrate Technology Ltd is a family business situated on the outskirts of Cambridge (UK) that has manufactured thousands of geolocators over many years.
Taking great pride and care in our work, we aim to offer a valuable engineering service to the biological research community whilst keeping our technology affordable to studies large and small.
In charge of development is James W. Fox MEng. Having over 20 years experience working closely with scientific researchers in many fields, he has provided technical guidance and designed and built a variety of new instrumentation, often required to function in the harshest of environments. Formerly employed at the British Antarctic Survey, he was involved in the design of low power archival data loggers and led the miniaturisation of the first geolocator in the world to be used successfully on songbirds. This landmark study, showing that light level geolocation is a useful tool for studying the movement of small terrestrial birds, was published in Science by Prof Bridget Stutchbury of York University, Canada in 2009. James has been a co-author of many publications of geolocator studies.
Of great importance to us is feedback from our research customers. We get great satisfaction from knowing our devices are helping conservation efforts and researchers around the world and we welcome ideas or comments.
